The latest 2024 convention with The Society of Photographers took place at the Novotel London West in Hammersmith in mid-January. These conventions have been taking place for many years with earlier conventions taking place in Coventry and Edgware Road in London.
The convention runs over several days with the trade show taking place over three days with the convention training sessions taking place over four days.
The training sessions included streams including Masterclass, Business School and Superclass. There is also the awards dinner on the Friday night where the winners of the multiple classes of photographs are awarded. The mounted photographs are available for viewing as well as a team from the judging panel who used multiple submitted examples to show how they could have been improved to meet at least Merit standard.
The Trade show included stands from camera manufacturers such as Canon, Fujifilm & Sony as well as equipment companies such as Godox, Atomos, Cokin, Epson, Essential Photo&Video, Permajet and Elinchrom. There were also stands from camera shops such as Park Cameras and Photomart.
In the Trade area there were a series of presentations which included sessions on Studio Portrait Lighting… Anywhere with Gavin Hoey & Essential Photo&Video, Fashion Photography with Ian Hippolyte, a Canon Ambassador, Maximising your Photography Productivity with Justin Benson from Aftershoot, Getting the Most out of Printing with Vince Cater & Fotospeed, 5 Pro Looks with 1 Light with Hannah Couzens and Sony and Ground Breaking Papers with Chris Ceaser and Canson Infinity.
